If you are a single malt fan, you won’t be disappointed with a line-up that includes Laphroaig and Oban. However, the real trademark of Acapella is their cocktails. The bar makes a homemade citrus mix from juiced lemons, which massively enhances the flavor. Make sure you try the Caprioska or the Acapella Latté!
Be sure to head in early enough for the food. From 17:00 on, you will find a good mix of expats and Chinese customers drawn in by the authentic Western food. There is a great selection of appetizers, pasta, and wraps but a trip to Acapella is not complete without tasting one of their many legendary burgers. In the late evening, expect a live show most nights. Acapella hosts many exciting events like comedy shows, Mandarin corners and photo exhibits but the jewel in the crown is its live music scene. Wednesday nights see the Sketch Quintet, an international jazz band, play their eclectic mix of jazz standards and their own spin on classics from across the musical spectrum. On Friday night, the house band, Cat Head Eagle jams to soul, blues and rock. On Saturday night, The Gents take centre stage, tackling a new theme each week to a packed house. On Sunday night, Irish band Full of Exits plays an enjoyable mix of folk rock and pop while customers enjoy Sunday night food and drink specials.
Although Acapella is more suited to the nighttime crowd, there is also an exciting western breakfast menu. In a city where breakfast options are limited, Acapella has filled the void with great classics like eggs benedict, which can also be served with a Mexican twist!
